Most Sculpin patterns in the past were single hook flies and tiers used materials to try to get as much motion as possible. About 1990 I started tying flies with two hooks connected by monofilament. As I developed these flies, adding materials to the trailer hook made sense and by adding beads and a mono loop the flies became very active when stripped. Articulated means "jointed." Jointed means action, action means more fish! I credit my friend Kelly Galloup for developing and leading the way on a lot of these patterns. Kelly is one of our featured fly tyers on this web site. You will find this pattern to have lots of action as it does not have lead in the fly to impair it's motion. You must fish this fly with a sinking line to get it where it needs to be.
