Chota Stow-A-Way Fleece Flip Mitt Review
It’s not too often that a product comes along in the fly fishing world that really catches our attention at the fly shop. One worthy of special mention is a new product by Chota Outdoor Gear. The designers at Chota have come up with an innovative design on a fishing mitten that really makes sense. Our staff and clients do a ton of winter, late fall, and spring steelhead fishing which can cause some serious finger and hand discomfort from the cold. Anytime a well-thought out design comes along like this, we take note.
The patented finger tip stow-a-way system works without Velcro or snaps like other mittens on the market. The mitten part tucks neatly beneath a cuff cover with the thumb cover which is well out of the way of fly lines. This is the slickest design on the market today. Quick conversion to a ¾ finger glove makes this a cold weather angler’s dream come true. The windproof micro-fleece design keep your hands warmer with less bulk. After a few weeks of wear, I washed mine with a polar fleece wash to give them an even more water-resistant quality. It features a RoughSkin Palm pad that is ideal for fishing, rowing a boat, or pulling up an anchor line. Chota fleece flip mitts are a new product that will offer you much needed warmth without a getting in the way of your fly casting or fishing. The glove sizes are generous, so you should purchase the size you normally wear. They have articulated palm and finger design for added comfort. The windproof mitt and thumb cover fold back down when you are traveling between spots on the river.
Pick up a pair of the Chota Stow-A-Way Fleece Flip Mit for your next cold weather excursion today. They work well and will keep you warm without getting in the way of your fishing. Our staff thinks this is a great product that no serious winter angler should be without as they head to the stream on a cold day.
