Labrador Brook Trout
Hosted by
Frank Transue of Schmidt Outfitters

Traveling the best places in our world and pursuing giant brook trout, owner of Schmidt Outfitters Frank Transue will host our first "shop" trip to NE Canada's Minipi Camp this coming summer. This region of North America grows some of the world's largest brook trout.
Frank had the great experience of a 4-pound brook trout coming totally out of the water and pouncing on a deer hair mouse like a great white shark attacks a seal.
The median size of the brook trout caught is approximately 3 to 3.5 pounds. Five- to 7-pound brookies will take a dry fly. In the evening hex flies and brown drakes are numerous with giant brook trout feeding on them all evening until dark.
The guides are eager to spend 12 to 16 hours a day with you to catch trout. There are river and lake fishing venues. During slow times for trout you can fish for northern pike with the possibility of a shore lunch of pike.
The weather can be 50 degrees or in the 70's.
