Advanced Fly Casting School
These intensive one-day advanced fly casting classes are designed to take intermediate and better casters to the next level. We spend minimal time on the basics; it is necessary to have good loop control out to 45-50 feet to get the most from this class. Class size is small. We only allow 6 students per session. There is a lot of one-on-one time with Ray Schmidt and Bruce Richards.
A student casts with the casting analyzer fly rod, as Bruce Richards instructs him.

We utilize both video analysis and the electronic casting analysis device developed by Noel Perkins from the University of Michigan and Bruce Richards. This device precisely measures the casting stroke and charts it on a graph, which allows very detailed stroke analysis and comparison with other casters. (Schmidt Outfitters has a casting analyzer in the fly shop permanently for students and clients.) Students will have their casting analysis charts printed out and given to them. There is no other school in the country using this new technology at this time. This is the place that casting instructors come to go to the next level!
